JoJo Stand Stats Explained: What A to E Mean, With Data From 123 Stands
Every Stand in JoJo's Bizarre Adventure can be summed up in six letter grades, drawn as a hexagon. We collected the grades of all 123 graded Stands in the JoJodle roster to explain what each stat and grade means, which grades are common or rare, how Stand types differ, and which Stands come out on top.
The short answer
What are Stand stats?
Stand stats, or Stand parameters, are a fixed set of six grades that sum up a Stand's abilities. They sit outside the story: characters never talk about them. Instead they appear on stat cards next to a Stand's name and a short description of its power.
The six grades are drawn on a hexagon. Destructive Power sits at the top, and the other five follow clockwise. The further a point reaches toward the outer ring, the better the grade.
How to read the hexagon
- A big, round shape is an all-rounder. Star Platinum reaches A on five of its six axes.
- A spike shows a specialist: a Stand built for one job, such as range or persistence.
- A dent at Range is typical of Close-Range Stands, which have to stay near their user.
Three shapes to recognise
- The brawler: Killer Queen (Yoshikage Kira) leans toward Power and Potential, with a short Range.
- The long-range scout: Hierophant Green (Noriaki Kakyoin) spikes at Range and gives up Power.
- The trap: Bastet (Mariah) is almost all E, with one A in Persistence. It waits, and it lasts.
What A, B, C, D and E mean
Each grade has an official meaning, given in Japanese on the charts. The middle grade, C, is the anchor: it means the Stand is about as good as an ordinary human at that stat.
| Grade | Meaning | Japanese | Grades in our data |
|---|---|---|---|
| A | Excellent | 超スゴイ (chō sugoi) | 166 |
| B | Good | スゴイ (sugoi) | 121 |
| C | Comparable to a human | 人間と同じ (ningen to onaji) | 163 |
| D | Weak | ニガテ (nigate) | 82 |
| E | Very weak | 超ニガテ (chō nigate) | 149 |
Read the letters as a scale around that human middle: two steps up to A, two steps down to E. That makes the grades quick to compare at a glance, but coarse. Every Stand inside one grade band looks the same on paper, however different the two may be in the story.
Grades are about the Stand, not the user
A grade describes the Stand's own ability. A Stand with E in Destructive Power can still be deadly if its special ability does the damage, which is why weak-looking hexagons often belong to dangerous villains.
The six stats, one by one
Here is what each stat measures, how the roster scores on it, and one Stand at each end of the scale.
| Stat | Japanese | Average | A grades |
|---|---|---|---|
Destructive Power
How much damage the Stand can do in a given time. Close-Range fighters such as Star Platinum score A. At the other end, Tower of Gray has E Power but A Speed and Range: it kills with speed, not force.
In our data: 23 A's and 27 E's, average 3.00 (C).
Speed
How fast the Stand moves and reacts. Silver Chariot is the classic A, a fencer whose speed improves with training. Speed can also mean how quickly an ability takes effect.
In our data: 22 A's and 22 E's, average 3.21 (C).
Range
How far the Stand can travel or its power can reach. Hierophant Green has A Range and stretches across long distances; Sethan, a Stand bound to its user's shadow, has E.
In our data: 29 A's and 20 E's, average 3.22 (C).
Persistence
How long the Stand can keep its ability going. It is the most generous stat: 69 of 121 graded Stands get an A, including Yellow Temperance, whose living blob clings to its target. King Crimson, which erases only a few seconds of time at once, gets an E.
In our data: 69 A's and 3 E's, average 4.27 (B).
Precision
How accurately the Stand can act on a target. It is the hardest stat: just 7 A's. Sex Pistols, six tiny Stands that steer bullets mid-air, is one of them. Emperor, a Stand in the shape of a gun, gets an E.
In our data: 7 A's and 46 E's, average 2.17 (D).
Development Potential
How much the Stand can still grow. It falls as the user masters the Stand, so it often measures how new a Stand is rather than how good. Gold Experience, which later evolves, has A; The Sun has E.
In our data: 16 A's and 31 E's, average 2.69 (C).
What the grades of 123 Stands show
Put every grade side by side and each stat has its own profile. Some hand out A's freely; others almost never do.
Persistence is the easy A
69 Stands, more than half of those graded, have an A in Persistence. Only 3 have an E. Most Stands, it seems, can keep their power running as long as they need to.
Precision is the rare A
Precision is the mirror image: 7 A's and 46 E's, with an average of 2.17, the lowest of the six. Fine control is the thing Stands are worst at. Automatic Stands, which act without direction from their user, account for 14 of those 46 E's.
The most common grade overall
Across all six stats, A (166) and C (163) are the most common grades, with E (149) close behind. D is the rarest letter, at 82. The charts tend to say “excellent”, “human” or “very weak” rather than something in between.
Stats by Stand type
JoJodle sorts every Stand into a type: Close-Range, Long-Range, Automatic or Colony. Averaging the grades by type shows that the types really do have different shapes.
| Type | Stands | Power | Speed | Range | Persistence | Precision | Potential |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Close-Range | 68 | 3.52 | 3.52 | 2.63 | 4.09 | 2.27 | 3.00 |
| Long-Range | 28 | 2.42 | 2.96 | 4.52 | 4.36 | 2.33 | 2.38 |
| Automatic | 23 | 2.21 | 2.45 | 3.17 | 4.64 | 1.45 | 1.95 |
| Colony | 4 | 2.25 | 3.50 | 3.75 | 4.75 | 3.00 | 3.25 |
Close-Range: power and speed
Close-Range Stands average 3.52 in Destructive Power and 3.52 in Speed, the highest of the main types. Their Range is the lowest, at 2.63.
Long-Range: reach over force
Long-Range Stands flip that shape. Their Range averages 4.52, close to an A, while their Power drops to 2.42.
Automatic: no fine control
Automatic Stands act on their own once released, and their Precision shows it: 1.45, barely above E. They also have the lowest Development Potential (1.95) and the highest Persistence of the three main types (4.64).
Does more power mean less range?
The wiki notes that Range is usually the price of Power. Across all graded Stands, though, the link is loose: Stands with A Power average 2.91 in Range, and Stands with E Power average 3.00. The trade-off shows up between types, not within the roster as a whole.
How the JoJos' Stands compare
Of the nine JoJos, 5 have a Stand with a full line of letter grades. Laid on top of each other, their hexagons show how differently Araki built each hero.
| JoJo | Stand | Grades | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Star Platinum | A A C A A A | 28 | |
| Crazy Diamond | A A D B B C | 23 | |
| Gold Experience | C A E D C A | 19 | |
| Stone Free | A B C A C A | 25 | |
| Soft & Wet | C B D B C A | 21 |
Star Platinum sets the bar
Jotaro's Star Platinum is the strongest on paper, with A in five stats. Josuke's Crazy Diamond and Jolyne's Stone Free are the closest to it, both built for close-range fighting.
Gold Experience and Soft & Wet grow
Giorno's Gold Experience and Gappy's Soft & Wet score lower overall, but both have an A in Development Potential. Each one does go on to change later in its Part.
Heroes vs villains
Do villains get better stats? Grouping the Stands by their user's role in JoJodle gives a clear answer: not on average.
| User's role | Stands | Average total | Power | Speed | Range | Persistence | Precision | Potential |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Protagonist | 5 | 23.2 | 4.20 | 4.60 | 2.20 | 4.00 | 3.60 | 4.60 |
| Supporting | 31 | 18.8 | 2.94 | 3.45 | 3.00 | 3.97 | 2.39 | 3.06 |
| Antagonist | 64 | 18.1 | 2.92 | 3.06 | 3.31 | 4.42 | 2.06 | 2.33 |
The JoJos' Stands average 23.2 out of 30. Antagonists average 18.1, about the same as supporting characters (18.8).
That fits how the series works. Most villains are one-off enemies with a single trick, and their hexagons are narrow. The danger is in the ability, which no letter grade captures.
The best-rated villains' Stands are Red Hot Chili Pepper (Akira Otoishi) and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap (Funny Valentine), at 28 out of 30.
The highest and lowest rated Stands
Add up the six grades, with A worth 5 and E worth 1, and the best possible total is 30. No Stand in our roster reaches it. These are the highest totals among the 100 Stands with a letter in every stat:
| Stand | User | Grades | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| Star PlatinumPart 3 | A A C A A A | 28 | |
| Red Hot Chili PepperPart 4 | A A A A C A | 28 | |
| KissPart 6 | A A A A C A | 28 | |
| Dirty Deeds Done Dirt CheapPart 7 | A A C A A A | 28 | |
| The WorldPart 3 | A A C A B B | 26 | |
| Stone FreePart 6 | A B C A C A | 25 | |
| Killer QueenPart 4 | A B D B B A | 24 | |
| Green DayPart 5 | A C A A E A | 24 | |
| ClashPart 5 | D A B A A C | 24 | |
| Foo FightersPart 6 | B A C A C B | 24 | |
| Marilyn MansonPart 6 | E A A A A C | 24 |
A 4-way tie at the top
Star Platinum, Red Hot Chili Pepper, Kiss and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap all score 28. They reach that total in different ways: Red Hot Chili Pepper and Kiss give up a little Precision, while Star Platinum and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap give up Range.
The lowest totals
| Stand | User | Grades | Total |
|---|---|---|---|
| SurvivorPart 6 | E E E C E E | 8 | |
| Hey Ya!Part 7 | E E E B E E | 9 | |
| Sugar MountainPart 7 | E E E A E E | 10 | |
| Ticket to RidePart 7 | E E E C E C | 10 | |
| Mr. PresidentPart 5 | E E E A E E | 10 | |
| Cheap TrickPart 4 | E E E A E E | 10 |
Low totals usually mean a narrow Stand, not a useless one. Most of these score E almost everywhere but hold one better grade, usually in Persistence: they do one thing, for a long time.
None, ∞ and ?: the special grades
Not every stat fits on the A to E scale. The charts use three other marks.
None
None means the stat does not apply. It is more common than you might expect: 45 grades across 19 Stands. Burning Down the House has None in all six stats.
∞ (infinite)
Infinite marks a stat with no limit. Notorious B.I.G. is infinite in Speed, Range and Persistence; Bohemian Rhapsody is infinite in Range.
? (unknown)
A question mark means the grade has not been revealed. King Crimson, Whitesnake and Baby Face all have at least one, Baby Face because two of its grades depend on how its child Stand is raised.
Grades with a condition attached
Some letter grades come with a note. Black Sabbath's Destructive Power is listed as “E (A - When grabbing someone)”: weak on its own, deadly once it has hold of a victim. Several Range grades add a distance, such as Stone Free's “C (1-2 m)”, or a place, such as Jail House Lock's “B (Walls of Green Dolphin Street Prison)”. We count the letter and keep the note in mind.
| Stand | Stat | Grade on the wiki |
|---|---|---|
| King Crimson | Precision | ? |
| King Crimson | Development Potential | ? |
| Baby Face | Precision | * Depending on Maturity |
| Baby Face | Development Potential | * Depending on Education |
| Notorious B.I.G. | Speed | ∞ |
| Notorious B.I.G. | Range | ∞ |
| Notorious B.I.G. | Persistence | ∞ |
| Whitesnake | Destructive Power | ? (Power likely A or higher) |
| Whitesnake | Range | ? |
| Whitesnake | Precision | ? |
| Whitesnake | Development Potential | ? |
| Bohemian Rhapsody | Range | ∞ |
Stands that change their stats
A few Stands evolve, and each stage gets its own stat line. The two in our roster are Echoes and Tusk, which grow through numbered Acts.
Tusk: from ACT1 to ACT4
| Stat | ACT1 | ACT2 | ACT3 | ACT4 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Destructive Power | E | D | D | A |
| Speed | E | D | D | B |
| Range | D | B | B | C |
| Persistence | B | C | D | A |
| Precision | E | C | C | B |
| Development Potential | A | A | A | E |
Echoes: ACT1 to ACT3
| Stat | ACT1 | ACT2 | ACT3 | Part 5 |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Destructive Power | E | C | B | A |
| Speed | E | D | B | C |
| Range | B | B | C | D |
| Persistence | B | B | B | C |
| Precision | C | C | C | C |
| Development Potential | A | A | A | B |
Echoes shows the trade the wiki describes: as it evolves, its Power and Speed rise while its Range shrinks. Star Platinum shows the other effect of growth: its Development Potential is A in Stardust Crusaders but C by Stone Ocean, after years of use.
Stats by Part
Stands from different Parts score differently on average, though the gaps are small and some Parts have few graded Stands.
Part 6's Stands have the highest average total, at 21.0. Grades thin out after Steel Ball Run: 12 of JoJolion's Stands in our roster have no grades on the wiki, and none of the 5 Part 9 Stands do yet.
| Part | Power | Speed | Range | Persistence | Precision | Potential |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Part 3 | 2.90 | 3.06 | 3.10 | 4.23 | 1.97 | 2.13 |
| Part 4 | 2.68 | 2.95 | 3.47 | 4.59 | 2.32 | 2.95 |
| Part 5 | 3.58 | 3.67 | 3.17 | 4.00 | 2.00 | 2.77 |
| Part 6 | 3.38 | 3.35 | 3.88 | 4.35 | 2.86 | 3.07 |
| Part 7 | 2.62 | 3.13 | 2.50 | 4.13 | 2.20 | 2.93 |
| Part 8 | 2.20 | 2.83 | 3.13 | 4.50 | 1.75 | 2.75 |
Persistence is high and Precision is low in every Part. Part 5 has both the strongest average Power and the fastest Stands, and Part 6 the longest Range.
How to compare two Stands
The grades are most useful side by side. Take Star Platinum and The World, the two time-stopping Stands at the heart of Part 3.
- Start with the type. Both are Close-Range Stands, so high Power and Speed and a C in Range are expected.
- Look for the differences. They match in four stats. Star Platinum is graded higher in Precision and Development Potential.
- Check for special grades. Neither has None, ∞ or ?, so the totals (28 and 26) are a fair comparison.
- Then read the abilities. The grades say Star Platinum is slightly better on paper. The story is decided by how each user plays their power, which no chart records.
What the stats mean for JoJodle
JoJodle's Classic mode doesn't show stat grades, but its Stand Type column is built on the same idea. A guess turns the column green when the type matches and yellow when the two types are in the same group.
| Stand type | Group (yellow match) | Typical hexagon |
|---|---|---|
| Close-Range | Physical | High Power (3.52) and Speed, short Range |
| Long-Range | Remote | Long Range (4.52), lower Power |
| Colony | Remote | Many small units; few graded Stands |
| Automatic | Passive | Very low Precision (1.45) |
Using the shape to guess
If you remember a Stand as a hard hitter that has to stay close to its user, it is almost certainly Close-Range. A Stand that works from far away, like a scout or a sniper, is Long-Range. A Stand that runs on its own rules once it is set loose, like a curse or a trap, is usually Automatic.
That is often enough to place a character you only half remember. See how to read the attributes for every column, or try Stand mode, where you identify a Stand from a pixelated portrait.
Where the grades come from
The grades are Araki's, not fans'. According to the JoJo Wiki, they first appeared in the artbook JOJO A-GO!GO!, and from Golden Wind onward the manga itself shows them with each Stand's name and description. Steel Ball Run and JoJolion don't show them in the story; their Stands were graded in artbooks instead.
How to treat the grades
- As a rough guide. A letter compares a Stand with an ordinary human, not with other Stands, so two A's can hide a big difference.
- As a description of one ability. Some grades describe a specific power. The wiki notes that Whitesnake's D in Speed refers to how fast its illusion works.
- As a snapshot. Grades can change as a Stand grows, as Echoes, Tusk and Star Platinum's Development Potential show.
Why sources sometimes disagree
Because the grades were published in several places over the years, a few Stands have more than one value. The wiki lists Gold Experience's Range as E (2m), for example, with a C in JOJOVELLER and the anime.
Frequently asked questions
▸What do the letters mean in JoJo Stand stats?
Each of the six stats is graded from A to E. A means excellent, B good, C comparable to a human, D weak and E very weak. A few Stands also get None, infinite (∞) or a question mark for an unknown grade.
▸What does ∞ mean on a Stand stat chart?
It means the stat has no limit. In our roster only Notorious B.I.G. and Bohemian Rhapsody have an infinite grade. Notorious B.I.G. is infinite in Speed, Range and Persistence, because it keeps chasing whatever moves fastest near it, even after its user has died.
▸Which Stand has the best stats?
On paper, Star Platinum, Red Hot Chili Pepper, Kiss and Dirty Deeds Done Dirt Cheap tie for the highest total, 28 out of 30 when A counts as 5 and E as 1. The grades are rough, though: the wiki points out that Kiss and Star Platinum share an A in Destructive Power even though Star Platinum is far stronger.
▸Are Stand stats official?
Yes. They come from Hirohiko Araki's own charts. According to the JoJo Wiki, they first appeared in the artbook JOJO A-GO!GO! and were shown in the manga itself from Golden Wind onward. Steel Ball Run and JoJolion don't show them in the story, but their Stands were graded in artbooks.
▸Which Stand stat is hardest to get an A in?
Precision. Only 7 of the 113 Stands graded for it in our roster have an A, and 46 have an E. Persistence is the easiest: 69 A's.
▸What does Development Potential mean for a Stand?
It measures how much a Stand can still grow and what abilities are left to discover. It drops as the user masters the Stand: the wiki notes that Star Platinum is rated A in Stardust Crusaders but C in Stone Ocean.
About the data
Source. The six parameters in each Stand's infobox on JoJo's Bizarre Wiki (Fandom), read in October 2026 for every Stand in the JoJodle roster. Where the wiki gives extra values in brackets (another source, a distance), we used the main grade.
Counting. One row per wiki page, so The World and the three Tomb of the Boom Stands each count once. 123 Stands have a graded stat line, 2 (Echoes and Tusk) have one line per Act and are covered separately, and 17 have no grades on the wiki.
Averages and totals. A = 5, B = 4, C = 3, D = 2, E = 1. Averages leave out None, ∞ and ? grades. Totals only use the 100 Stands graded with a letter in all six stats, so the maximum is 30.
Stand types. The Close-Range, Long-Range, Automatic and Colony labels come from JoJodle's Stand Type column, which simplifies the wiki's own type lists.
