Cookie Policy

Last updated: 2026-04-19

This page lists every cookie and browser-storage key JoJodle sets or allows third parties to set. It's a more detailed companion to the privacy policy.

How we handle consent

On your first visit you'll see a banner asking whether to allow analytics and advertising cookies. We use Google's Consent Mode v2, which means:

  • All analytics and advertising signals start in a denied state by default.
  • If you press Decline, Google tags still load but send only anonymous, cookie-less pings — no persistent ID is stored on your device.
  • If you press Accept, full analytics and advertising cookies are enabled.
  • Your choice is stored in localStorage under jjd:consent. Clear site data to see the banner again.

jjd:* Stores your current puzzle progress, streak, stats, and whether you've accepted cookies. Required for the game to remember your state.

_ga, _ga_* Distinguishes unique visitors and session activity, anonymised by default via Consent Mode v2. Only set after you accept analytics cookies.

_gid Short-lived session counter used to separate same-day visits.

__gads, __gpi, __eoi Controls frequency and selection of ads shown. Only set after you accept advertising cookies.

IDE, test_cookie, ANID Measures ad performance and (where consented) personalises ads across Google's partner network.

Opting out

You can revoke or change your consent at any time by clearing the jjd:consent key from your browser's localStorage or clearing site data for jojodle.org. The banner will reappear and let you make a new choice.

To opt out of Google's advertising cookies across the web, use Google Ad Settings. For a broader opt-out, see the Your Online Choices industry portal (EU) or YourAdChoices (US).
